The Potomac Boat Club Men's Sweep team is more than just a rowing squad; it's a brotherhood forged on the water. We are a competitive program designed for athletes who already know the rhythm of the stroke and are hungry for the next level of racing. Whether you're a collegiate standout or a seasoned club rower, if you have the experience and the drive to compete, there is a seat for you here. We blend elite training with a tight-knit culture where every member pushes the crew forward.
Led by Experts, Driven by Passion
Our team is guided by Head Coach Lee Rumpf, a veteran of competitive sweep rowing known for his sharp eye and relentless drive. He helps us refine our technique and execute race strategies that win. On the water, Team Captains Cam DeLo and Fred Malloy keep the energy high and the standards clear. They are the heartbeat of the crew, ensuring that our shared commitment to excellence translates into speed and unity on every outing.
Join the Team
Our season is built on intensity. We grind hard through the winter to dominate spring scrimmages and early races, transition into sprint-focused 1k and 2k events in the summer, and peak for our greatest successes during fall head racing. To thrive in this cycle, you need the engine to back it up. New recruits must meet the following 2k Erg Standards:
- 18-29: 6:36
- 30-39: 6:40
- 40-49: 6:52
- 50-59: 7:04
- 60-69: 7:16
