Adding some missing context. This is not The Head of the Spousta, that was run, and still may be run by a more official non-official PBC entity.
For even more context: “Bob Spousta, a PBC member, US National Team Member, multiple-time HOCR master's 1x winner, former coach of TC Williams HS Crew, and current Head Coach for the GMU men, was the first to organize and run these informal practice head races for PBC racers.”
I wanted to do more runs last year, basically weekly, so these are in homage to, and hopefully a supplement, to that, The Head of the Spousta, and Bob.
Last year, I just emailed to an old list that Phil Bogdan had started years ago, and since most of those email addresses proved to be stale, this year I posted to the forum.
I’d also tried to get people to do sprints on Sundays, and not just Fall head races, and I referred to those as Spouts too—(more Spousta offspring)…I think we, as a club, beyond the various teams, should have more informal racing, ladders, and the like. It’d be good fun, and build more ‘community’ for lack of a better word…I love it if more people would join and support such things.
